Bobby Lashley was sick and tired of MVP interfering in his matches with Omos, so he challenged The Nigerian Giant to a steel cage match for the May 16 edition of WWE Monday Night Raw. The intent of this match was to prevent MVP from interfering in the proceedings, and Lashley actually went out of his way to challenge Omos to this fight inside the unforgiving steel structure.
It didn't take long for MVP and Cedric Alexander, who is trying to get back into his former manager's good graces, to insert themselves into the bout. Alexander attacked Lashley as he walked to the ring for the match—which opened Monday Night Raw—and MVP joined in. The action would eventually return to the ring, where Lashley appeared ready for the match despite being at a clear advantage.

The Almighty actually looked set to win before Alexander prevented him from leaving the cage. A few moments later, Lashley's feet would actually touch the floor first, making him the winner, but probably not the way he was planning for them to. Borrowing a spot from big men in years gone by, Omos picked Lashley up and then proceeded to throw him through the steel cage. It was reminiscent of Kane's debut at Bad Blood: In Your House in 1997. Lashley is obviously no Stone Cold Steve Austin, but the «break the cage» strength still came through loud and clear for Amos.
