The ISS is one of the most famous sights in the nighty sky — but what would it look like if you were aboard the space station and looking down at Earth? Thanks to a viral video making the rounds online, you can see exactly that. In the 60+ years that humans have been exploring outer space, there's become no shortage of stunning photos and videos of those journies. Whether it be pictures from Mars rovers, old photos of the Moon from the Apollo missions, or Hubble images of faraway galaxies, humanity's amassed quite the collection of space media.
Just as impressive as those discoveries is the football field-sized spacecraft orbiting the Earth. Launched in April 1990, the International Space Station remains an incredible feat in space exploration. It acts as humanity's one constant presence in outer space, provides astronauts with a unique environment for experiments, and is often visible with the naked eye here on Earth.

Most people have likely seen the ISS from their backyard — whizzing through the sky with its bright blinking lights. While it's an incredible sight on Earth, it's even more impressive when you switch perspectives. One Reddit user on the r/Space subreddit recently shared a NASA video of an astronaut conducting a spacewalk on the ISS. While the video is less than two minutes long, the views captured in that short amount of time are breathtaking. From the perspective of an astronaut outside the ISS, the video shows them working on the space station while looking at the giant blue marble below them. It's beautiful, eerie, and pretty darn humbling.
While the video recently gained new life on Reddit, the clip itself is a few years old. NASA originally shared it on
