Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is a first-person, co-op horde shooter that acts as a successor to the Warhammer: Vermintide games. Like Vermintide, players in Darktide will be able to choose from a number of classes as they face off against almost endless hordes of foes. Unlike Vermintide, which has a fantasy focus, Darktide takes players to the grimdark far future of Warhammer 40k, where they are trapped in a hive world overrun by a cult of the Chaos god Nurgle.
Darktide has faced multiple delays since it was first announced. However, recently Darktide was given a release date trailer with developer Fatshark promising that the game would launch in September 2022. As it is around four months away until fans will get their hands on Darktide, details on the game are beginning to be revealed. While through previous gameplay trailers and concept art, fans already had a good idea of how the game would play and what it would look like. Fans suspected that there would be a magic-wielding class in Darktide, as there was a wizard in Vermintide and Vermintide 2. Now, Fatshark has officially revealed that there will be a playable Psyker in Darktide. Psykers are Warhammer 40k's version of mages, as they wield the powers of the warp, which is traditionally the realm of Chaos, similarly to magic in fantasy settings. However, as the warp is unstable, it can lead to the Psyker in Darktide causing damage to themselves, similarly to Sienna in Vermintide.
