Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, the upcoming co-op shooter from developer Fatshark, has been delayed on PC, meaning the game won’t meet its previously confirmed September release date. It is yet another postponement in a series of unfortunate events for the game, which was initially expected to launch in 2021.
Originally, Warhammer 40,000: Darktide was revealed two years ago with a release window set for 2021. Since then, there’s been a series of delays, and the most recent one has replaced Darktide’s expected spring launch with a seemingly solid September date. The key reason for the delay was the necessity to improve the game’s level of quality as well as some other systems and mechanics. Apparently, moving the release date from spring to autumn wasn’t enough since there’s just been another postponement.

According to an announcement by Fatshark on Twitter, Warhammer 40,000: Darktide has been delayed to November 30 on PC. Also in development are versions of the game for Xbox Series X/S, which will release shortly after the PC version. Martin Wahlund, Fatshark CEO and co-founder, clarified that the reason for the delay was quite common. To provide players with the best possible experience, the studio had to reserve a couple of extra months. Despite Warhammer 40,000: Darktide receiving positive feedback from the community and critics alike during preview sessions, Fatshark needs to improve particular parts of the game, including overall performance and stability. Additionally, players are invited to participate in the prolonged development cycle. The studio plans to launch a series of technical tests and betas, which gamers can sign up for.
