Warhammer 40,000: Darktide gets a September release date

If you’ve been wondering just when you and three of your friends can jump into the gritty world of Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, things just got a whole lot clearer due to it finally getting a release date. The highly anticipated four-person co-op title is releasing in September of this year, leaving fans with less than six months to wait before they can start stabbing their way through the horde with homeys at their side. There’s always something fun about those multiplayer PvE games where you have to work with your teammates to survive an enemy onslaught, and I’m hoping that this one hits the same high notes as the Vermintide games before it.

Specifically, Warhammer 40,000: Darktide will launch on PC on September 13 of this year. The game’s developer also did the Vermintide games, so this shouldn’t be a wholly dissimilar experience. The game takes place on Atoma Prime in the Hive City Tertium. Players control a team of Imperial Guardsmen as they look into possible sightings of Chaos within the city.

Naturally, Chaos abounds, and the Guardsmen have some serious killing to do to rid the city of the unwanted interlopers. The game will feature lots of bloody carnage as you rend the flesh of your enemies asunder.

Alongside the announcement, Warhammer 40,000: Darktide has also gotten a release date trailer that mostly shows off a cinematic of the four characters. They sit in a bar while playing a game of cards, with the occasional snarky comment made at the other’s expense. After a bit, a guard approaches their table and bluntly reminds them that they’re supposed to be doing something else.
