Two of the most powerful kings in the Marvel Universe, Thor the All-Father of Asgard and Venom the King in Black of symbiotes, will join forces to stop a new threat to Earth, in a two-issue saga. While the two heroes don't initially seem to share much in common aside from their incredible power, this new team-up makes a lot more sense than initial appearances suggest, and it all comes down to writer Donny Cates.
Cates redefined the Venom mythos during his unforgettable run on the character, which introduced the King in Black and expanded the lore of the mysterious symbiote race. He then took over Thor from Jason Aaron, and is currently reserving the same treatment to the God of Thunder, who is currently going through a period of great turmoil. Most recently, in the «God of Hammers» saga, saw Thor's Mjolnir had turned against him, possessed by the spirit of the malevolent Mangog which corrupted the God Tempest that gave the hammer its powers. To stop this threat, Odin gave his life, leaving Thor as the sole All-Father and inheritor of the full Odinforce. Meanwhile, Eddie Brock has been busy with his new duties as the King in Black and the machinations of Meridious, who trapped him millions of years in the future. Eddie's son, Dylan, has taken over the Venom symbiote on Earth and is struggling with this new identity while trying to solve the mystery of the disappearance of his father.

Now, Thor #27 and 28 are promising a meeting of Thor and Hulk. Cates will be joined for these two Thor issues by legendary artist Salvador Larroca, before the regular series artist Nic Klein comes back for Thor #29. Thor's editor Will Moss commented on this epic
