The first Vampire: The Masquerade — Bloodlines game released in November 2004, and was based on the popular table-top role-playing game of the same name. Although Vampire: The Masquerade — Bloodlines did not sell well enough to save its original development studio, Troika Games, the game did find cult success, and those that did play it have been calling for a sequel game ever since.
Vampire: The Masquerade fans almost got their wish in 2019 when a sequel game developed by Hardsuit Labs was revealed along with a trailer and an expected release date in 2020. However, after a series of delays and the game's development studio being dropped from the project, players have understandably been left with doubts about the current state of Vampire: The Masquerade — Bloodlines 2.

It is still not known which development studio is currently working on Vampire: The Masquerade — Bloodlines 2. But Fredrik Wester, the CEO of the game’s publisher, Paradox Interactive, has tweeted to reassure fans that the unnamed studio is making steady progress on Bloodlines 2, and that the game will be shown off when it is ready. This reassurance will come as a relief to fans who may have assumed that the game had been quietly canceled between the long waits for updates on the game's development, although Paradox Interactive has confirmed that this was very nearly the case for Bloodlines 2.
