Valve Has Multiple "Exciting" Games In Development

Valve has revealed that it has "multiple games in development".

After nearly a year of waiting, the Steam Deck is finally upon some of us, with more units being sent out in the next month or so. Although Valve just released a powerful handheld console, that doesn't mean that it's done working, as it's now revealed that it has "multiple games in development".

This news comes courtesy of Axios, who spoke to Valve designer Greg Coomer about the making of the Steam Deck. Although most of the interview focuses on the console, Coomer gave a little hint at the future of Valve and what we can expect to see from them next.

Towards the end of the interview, Axios makes reference to the recently-released free short game, Aperture Desk Job, referencing how Valve explicitly referred to it as "not Portal 3". Coomer responds to this by teasing that Valve is working on several other games, saying, "There are multiple games in development right now at Valve, and I think they're pretty exciting ones.”

It's incredibly vague and doesn't give any hints as to what Valve might be working on, but it's clear that it's working on more than one title. Considering how rare Valve games have been over the last decade (name one other than Half-Life: Alyx, I dare you), it's exciting news for fans of the studio and a sign that it's upping the ante a little.

It also shouldn't come as too much of a surprise. Late last year while talking about the Steam Deck, Valve boss Gabe Newell said that the team "has games in development that we're going to be announcing".
