Earlier this year, Sony held a PlayStation State of Play event, where fans were hopeful for a look at games from a variety of publishers, with Square Enix fans in particular on the lookout. One of the more surprising announcements was the reveal of a new game in the Valkyrie Profile series, the action RPG Valkyrie Elysium. With the return of this series, it seems more Valkyrie Profile games will be coming over to modern consoles, as evidenced with the reveal that the first game in the series will be coming to modern PlayStation systems.
The first Valkyrie Profile game was originally released on PlayStation in 1999, with it being a commercial and critical success. This lead to the game getting an enhanced port in 2006, which was released on the PlayStation Portable as Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth. This is the only Valkyrie Profile game that had a re-release, with the other entries only being available on the systems they originally launches on. Fans who are looking to experience its origins will be able to try out the enhanced port when it comes to PS4 and PS5 this September.

One thing of note that will be bundled with this collector's edition is a download code for Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth, which expires in 2024. This PSP port will also be sold separately on PS4 and PS5, releasing on the same date as Elysium, September 28, 2022.
