Uber today rolled out a redesigned mobile app, complete with live ride tracking and a simplified home screen experience.
Launch the application to take an assisted tour of the latest features(Opens in a new window), like a Services tab highlighting available ride and delivery options, as well as an Activity Hub, where customers can track past and upcoming trips and orders.
The changes, rolling out to Android and iOS devices, come with extra perks for Apple customers, including Live Activities integration for tracking rides in real time—directly from the Lock Screen. Receive critical updates like vehicle details, the latest ETA, and trip status without opening the Uber app.
Anyone using an iPhone 14 Pro or 14 Pro Max, meanwhile, can carry on scrolling social media or crushing colorful candy while keeping an eye on their driver's progress via the Dynamic Island.
This marks "the first in a series of updates to make using the app more effortless," according to Jen You, head of rider product at Uber. Users can expect additional tailored updates in the coming months.
"We're excited to announce a redesign of the Uber app," You said in a statement. "These improvements represent the biggest design changes to the Uber app in several years, touching nearly every aspect of the customer experience—making the Uber app easier, more intuitive, and more personalized than ever before."
Moving forward, the company will customize users' Saved Places with destinations and ride types based on preferences, past trips, and likely ports of call. It will also recommend ways to plan and save in your city, gleaned from how you use the app.
