Film events in Two Point Campus last for 15 days, so they're a pretty short activity to give students a Happiness boost. They vary a little in both pricing and rewards, and it's a good idea to have film nights on rotation throughout the academic year.
The Funny Film gives a decent boost in Happiness and provides entertainment. It's one of the first film events players unlock in the game, and it's one of the cheaper options to keep students happy (which is important: managing finances correctly is a big part of succeeding in Two Point Campus).

What happens between them is a complete mystery as players don't get to hear the storyline, but it seems to keep students happy enough.
