Streamers of Pokémon both big and small are being invited to participate in an epic charity drive for St. Baldrick's Foundation, which has set a challenge to capture one million Pokémon for children's cancer research. Pokémon streams on Twitch have seen amazing moments both big and small over the years, from the dizzyingly chaotic digital experiment Twitch Plays Pokémon to the understated tragedy of many a failed Nuzlocke run.
Fundraising through video games has been a major source of income for charities for many years now, with content creators both big and small undertaking stream-a-thons and more, with the aim of raising money to help others. In the past, gamers have seen both companies and independent content creators raise millions of dollars in aid for a range of causes. Various challenges to make the experience more interesting for streamers and viewers alike are also common. There are the aforementioned Pokémon Nuzlocke runs, for example, but speedruns are another popular category for all kinds of games. Games Done Quick's charity streams run annually in aid of cancer research amongst other charities, and this year they have even set a record new total for themselves.

The upcoming Catch A Million to Conquer Kids’ Cancer event, organized by St. Baldrick's Foundation, aims to capitalize on the strong links between streaming and charity by opening the fundraising up to the Pokémon community as a whole.
