The Witcher: Blood Origin will premiere on Christmas Day – December 25, 2022. The launch date for the spinoff mini-series set in the Witcher universe was announced during Netflix's Tudum event by the cast.
Blood Origins will star Michelle Yeoh as Scian, the last survivor of an Elven tribe, whose mission it is to retrieve a blade stolen from her people; Sophia Brown as Eile, once a member of the Queen’s guard, now a wandering musician; and Laurence O’Fuarain as Fjall, who comes from a clan of warriors.
According to the synopsis of the trailer we got in December last year, The Witcher: Blood Origin is "a new prequel series set in an Elven world 1200 years before the events of The Witcher. Blood Origin will tell a story lost to time - exploring the creation of the first prototype Witcher, and the events that lead to the pivotal Conjunction of the Spheres, when the worlds of monsters, men, and elves merged to become one."

The cast revealed a few interesting facts about the show – Brown's character, Éile, will be playing an instrument called Nyckelharpa from Scandinavia. Four songs for Blood Origins were also written along with the instrument. Yeoh got to select the eye-colour of her character Scian.
