Skydance Interactive’s reveal of didn’t have much to go on. It only said players would be playing as the Tourist again and that there would be new enemies. But during the Meta Quest Gaming Showcase, Skydance showed more off of the VR title, including a brand-new trailer. The trailer in question also revealed that it is scheduled for late 2022 for “multiple VR headsets.”
This original, 15 to 20-hour game will still take place in New Orleans. It sounds like the Tourist’s decisions in the last game are catching up to them, as an armored juggernaut is on their tail, which is made more complicated by the authoritarian faction in the area. Skydance promises that there will be a new mystery to unravel as well as more weapons, tools, and deadlier enemy types. A chainsaw is one of these new tools, which was hinted at in the game’s original key art.
It appears as though will keep many key aspects of the first game, like player choice and the general loop of scavenging to survive. The sequel seems like it is emphasizing player choices even more, as they will “weigh heavily” within the game, according to its press release. The Tower, one of the factions from the first game, will also be returning, so they’re likely to weave into these scenarios in one way or another. The combat will also have “complex physics and feedback,” meaning that it could feel a little smoother this time around.
