The Ultimatum: Why Fans Are Surprised By Madlyn And Colby's Ending
Netflix viewers are obsessed with The Ultimatum: Marry Or Move On, and while many couples' endings were surprising, Madlyn Ballatori and Colby Kissinger's reunion reveal was by far the most shocking. Since the social experiment dropped on April 8, fans have watched six couples decide whether they should stay together and get married or end their relationships for good. With the original couples separating and living with other contestants for three weeks, before finishing out the remaining three weeks back together, the seriesis filled to the brim with tears and drama.
While two couples (Alexis Maloney and Hunter Parr and Lauren Pounds and Nathan Ruggles) left the show early after quickly getting engaged, fans were convinced that Madlyn and Colby would break up before (or on) Ultimatum Day. Although Colby wanted to marry Madlyn, and made it clear that he was not interested in seriously dating any of his female co-stars, Madlyn was hesitant to accept a proposal and commit to one person for life.

After Madlyn spent time with Randall Grffin (Shanique Imari's then-boyfriend) and Colby got to know April Marie (Jake Cunningham's then-girlfriend), the two got back together, and almost immediately began fighting. Before the finale and reunion episodes dropped on April 13, viewers watching The Ultimatum thought that there was no way that Colby's marriage ultimatum to Madlyn would be successful.
