Jake Cunningham has revealed that before joining The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On, he had planned to propose to now ex-girlfriend April Melohn, on a cruise. The two joined the Netflix show because April desperately wanted Jake to propose to her. Fans of The Ultimatum took a liking to April, believing her to be more mature than fellow contestants. They also believed she and Jake were not a good fit and that the star should find someone who treated her better than her ex-boyfriend did. Luckily for viewers, before the finale and reunion episodes were released on Netflix, April's new boyfriend revealed on his Instagram story that the two were together, making it obvious to fans she and Jake did not make it through The Ultimatum. The finale episode and reunion confirmed this when Jake did not propose to April, and the two went their separate ways, barely interacting during the reunion.
