Studying opponents is a daily task that must be completed in the game to help the Sim progress towards a promotion in the Pro Athlete career path. There are various ways Sims can complete this task, so players can choose whichever method that is easiest. Alternatively, they can alter between the two depending on the situation.

Beginning a career on the Athlete track in Sims 4 is very simple. To start, Sims can use their phones to look for a job, after which the player will be given a list of jobs they can choose from. From there, players can select the Athlete profession. Once players reach Career Level 5, they will be able to choose between the Bodybuilding track or Professional Athlete track. Studying opponents is a necessary action in the Professional Athlete track.
Athletes in the Sims 4 need to study their athletic opponents to get an edge over them in games. To do so, they can use either the TV or Computer. Being Energized is the best move for this action, as it gives the Sim reduced energy decay if they intend to multitask while studying opponents.
