New character outfit DLC has been released for The Quarry, but it’s only free for the first week.
The new ’50s Throwback Character Outfit DLC gives each of the game’s characters a 1950s makeover, and is available now on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC.
The DLC is free for new and existing players, but will only remain free until November 1 at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm BST.
After this time, the DLC will cost $4.99 / £3.99.
2K is also selling the Standard Edition and Deluxe Edition of The Quarry for 40% off on all formats for a limited time.
The Deluxe Edition includes the full game, a Gorefest Movie Mode option, instant access to the Death Rewind system, a Horror History Visual Filter Pack, and ’80s-themed character outfits.
Last month the director of The Quarry and Until Dawn revealed to VGC that he’s working on another full-scale horror title, which is tentatively planned for release by 2026.
Developer Supermassive is known for its branching narrative adventures within the horror genre. Over the past decade, the BAFTA-winning UK studio has released both larger games (Until Dawn, The Quarry) and a series of smaller, episodic titles underneath The Dark Pictures banner.
Speaking to us in a recent interview, studio director Will Byles – who directed both of Supermassive’s larger horror games – confirmed it was his intention to continue creating full-scale narrative adventures with the same genre.
“I do like the luxury of being able to really explore characters and you get that with a longer story,” he explained. “It annoys some people, because they get bored with it, but I really like the fact you can go in-depth with the characters and explore relationships in a way that’s harder on a shorter story.”
