The Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 Season 2 roadmap has been released.
Launching on February 15 following a two-week delay, Season 2’s headline addition is the introduction of Warzone 2’s new Japanese-themed map, Ashika Island.
The map has been tailored for the returning Resurgence mode, a streamlined spin-off of the game’s regular battle royale with respawns enabled, and it will also be an additional DMZ infiltration option.
In a lengthy Season 2 blog post, Activision said Resurgence will be available for all squad sizes (Solos, Duos, Trios and Quads) within regular playlist updates throughout the season.
As well as general stability fixes, weapon balancing and tweaks to PC audio and UI, Season 2 will also include new features and gameplay changes, such as the return of 1v1 Gulag and an end to players dropping backpacks when they die.
Redeploy Drones, a high-tech successor to the Redeploy Balloons previously featured on Warzone’s Caldera map, will be introduced during the season, offering a “high-risk, high-reward way to reposition around Ashika Island”.
Also coming to Resurgence mid-season will be a new AI combatant type called the Rusher, which specialises in close quarters combat.
Warzone 2’s Al Mazrah map will also see points of interest updated in Season 2, including the addition of a downed aircraft north of Sa’id City.
Season 2 will introduce fresh multiplayer maps, new game modes and weapons, and Ranked Play for Modern Warfare 2.
The new multiplayer maps are Dome (Core Map), Zaya Observatory (Battle Map), Al Malik International (Battle Map) and Valderas Museum (Core Map).
