The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is an upcoming action-adventure game with platforming and stealth mechanics from Daedalic Entertainment. Screen Rant recently took part in a hands-off preview of the game, which showcased gameplay in and around Mordor — as well as inside the Woodland Realm of the Mirkwood Elves. The preview gave a great taste of what to expect from the upcoming Lord of the Rings: Gollum game, with environments that encourage creative solutions and interesting gameplay mechanics for controlling its titular character.
On The Lord of the Rings timeline,Gollum is set eight years before he appearance in Moria inThe Fellowship of the Ring,meaning the game explores years that are either only briefly explained in the books or outlined in the Appendices of Return of the King. The Lord of the Rings: Gollum preview begins with Gollum outside Cirith Ungol, along the outskirts of Mordor. Almost immediately, one of the game's core mechanics is introduced — Gollum hates sunlight and must therefore hide inside caves once its daytime. A fell beast scares Gollum a few moments later, and he slinks away before it can get to him. During this portion, there's a lot highlighting verticality — Gollum can climb, swing, and jump through caves as he attempts to find his Precious, the One Ring that was stolen from the tricksy Bilbo Baggins.

A stealth bar means that players will have to keep an eye on how much they can tempt fate as they ascend areas and attempt to reach new places.
