Whether you played the video games or not, The Last Of Us has become one of the most beloved video game series of all time and one of, if not the best video game adaptation of all time. Throughout its nine-episode season, one that ended on Sunday, it proved that you could faithfully adapt a game and translate it to the TV screen while expanding the story and characters meaningfully. While the show wasn’t flawless at times, it did make almost everything work. So why are we talking about it when the season is over?
That’s because it’s not over. A special “bonus episode” of the show has dropped on HBO Max, and as you’ll see in the teaser below, the focus of the episode is the behind-the-scenes action and moments that helped deliver the show that you saw. Make no mistake, while plenty of episodes had a “grounded” and “believable” look to them, plenty of work had to be done to make each episode shine.
