Uhtred returns to his birthplace Bebbanburg to face his destiny in the trailer for The Last Kingdom season 5. The Last Kingdom is a historical fiction television series based on Bernard Cornwell's novel series The Saxon Stories and is set in England during the turn of the ninth and tenth centuries. The series' protagonist is Uhtred (Alexander Dreymon), the son of an English lord who is captured from his home Bebbanburg by a Danish warlord. Over The Last Kingdom season 1 to 4, Uhtred's loyalties and motivations have become increasingly complex, but he has never given up his desire to recapture his birthplace Bebbanburg.
Now, The Last Kingdom season 5 trailer has been released, and it teases a clash of destiny. King Edward of Wessex sets his sights on the North while Brida leads a pack of raiders, as she still seeks Uhtred's death. It seems Uhtred will need to contend with both even while he attempts to reclaim his birthright as Lord of Bebbanburg. The task won't be easy, however, as the new trailer declares "Destiny is brutal." Watch the full trailer for The Last Kingdom season 5 below.
