A new trailer for The Last Case of Benedict Fox, an upcoming Lovecraftian Metroidvania, aired during the Xbox & Bethesda Showcase 2022 event. The trailer is hot on the heels of another gothic-themed Metroidvania, the Bloodborne-inspired game The Last Faith, which was shown the day before during the 2022 Future Games Show livestream.
The story of The Last Case of Benedict Fox is set in 1925, as the titular detective solves a case in Boston. He has been called to a mansion, where a couple has died and their child is reported as missing. Benedict Fox is not alone in his investigation, as he is bound to his demon companion, who provides him with the powers he needs to face supernatural foes. The demon companion also allows Benedict Fox to access the minds of the recently deceased, entering the realm of Limbo, in order to traverse their memories in the last moments of their lives.
