Kanye West may be at public odds with estranged wife Kim and the rest of The Kardashians, but fans are still supporting his music as Donda 2 has already brought in over $2.2M. Kanye has been dominating headlines for weeks with a strong social media presence to match. Between ending his relationship with Uncut Gems actress Julia Fox and spreading rumors against Kim's boyfriend Pete Davidson, Kanye's transparency —and blatant lack of filter — has spread across all corners of the Internet. Despite the drama surrounding his personal life, however, Kanye has continued to work on several entertainment endeavors.
Donda, Kanye's last album, was released last August; it was partially recorded while the 44-year-old stayed in Wyoming following Kim's divorce filing last February. Featuring several rappers such as Jay-Z, Playboy Carti, and DaBaby, Donda was an instant success and topped Apple's charts in over 150 countries. That same month featured the first release of Kanye's Stem Player, which allows listeners to remix and remaster Donda's tracks to their liking. With Donda 2 set to drop on February 22, Kanye has voiced his dissatisfaction with major streaming services by exclusively releasing the album on the Stem Player. Revealing that his new music will not be found on Apple, YouTube, Spotify, or Amazon, Kanye told intrigued listeners on Instagram that his work is a representation of «free music from [this] oppressive system.»
