Paramount+ has renewed sports drama The Game season 2 on the Viacom-owned streaming service. The fresh series debuted last year as a continuation and reboot of The CW’s original series which began in 2006. The Game focuses on the lives of black families involved with the world of professional football. Dealing with contemporary social issues from racism to classism and the effects of fame, relatable characters of the show try to maintain their morality as their lives revolve around the titular game.
Paramount+ has now officially announced The Game season 2 will be on its way soon, with the expectation that principal cast members including Wendy Raquel Robinson and Vaughn Hebron will return. Current revival show-runner Devon Greggory is to continue helming the series. Paramount executive Nicole Clemens has teased “we look forward to what Devon and his team have in store for us next season on and off the field”. The Game season 2 will likely debut on the platform in late 2022.

The popular reimagining is written and produced by Greggory. Amongst the executive producers is TV and film star Kelsey Grammer. Fans of the modern drama series will welcome the news and be happy to see it continue for more seasons to come. The original show ran for 9 seasons between 2006 and 2015, so new viewers will be hoping for replication of that successful longevity. The first season of The Game is currently streaming on Paramount+.
