Activision will launch the first free trial for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer on Thursday.
Providing access to a limited portion of the game’s multiplayer offering, the free access period will begin on December 15 at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm GMT and run until the same time on December 19.
During this period users will be able to compete in Team Deathmatch, Hardpoint, Domination and Kill Confirmed modes, including the third-person variants of each.
These modes will be playable on three maps. Farm 18 and El Asilo, which launched with the game, are medium-sized maps focused on a large central building. Shipment, which was released on Wednesday as part of Modern Warfare 2’s Season 1 Reloaded update, offers a nautical take on the classic map by relocating it from land to a cargo ship.
The Season 1 Reloaded update also included the first episode of Special Ops’ Raids, and Warzone 2’s first post-launch update.
Continuing the story of the Modern Warfare 2 campaign, Raids are three-player cooperative challenges mixing stealth, intense combat and puzzle-solving objectives.
Modern Warfare 2 Season 2 will reportedly launch in February 2023 and feature the multiplayer map Castle and the operator Ronin.
Following a record launch for the Call of Duty series, Modern Warfare 2 recently dethroned Elden Ring to become the best-selling game of 2022 in the US.
