The DioField Chronicle is a tactical RPG with plenty of room for experimentation. The game borrows elements from other titles in the genre, like Fire Emblem and XCOM. Ability Points or AP in The DioField Chronicle is the method for players to increase a unit's stats in battle. They increase passive abilities like improved speed and strength, HP bonuses, and more on the battlefield. Unlike Skill Points in The DioField Chronicle, One can earnAbility Points by grinding to a certain degree in the game.
Earning AP in The DioField Chronicle works in the same way as leveling up specific characters in other RPG and Tactical RPGs. When a character or unit levels up, they will gain Ability Points. The fastest way to level up in The DioField Chronicle is to complete missions.
After each mission, the party will gain experience to level up the units. If all the optional tasks are complete in the mission, they will earn Skill Points and Ability Points. However, following the campaign's story isn't enough if one wants to maximize their character's abilities. Players will need to replay missions to earn more AP and SP.
After finishing the fourth mission in The Chains that Bind quest in Chapter One, the protagonist will gain access to the Practice Table in the Institute Room with the Researchers. The Practice Table will allow players to replay past missions and level up any new characters or make their current units stronger by gaining Ability Points.
