It's been a big day of news today, mostly due to Embracer Group going on a late-night spending spree, acquiring a host of developers and properties, one of which was the media rights to The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit.
Apart from that, Embracer has revealed that a big AAA title has been shifted from one developer to another and one of Avalanche's co-founders has revealed it had an Iron Man game in the works for two years before it was eventually scrapped. For more details, simply read on.

Embracer Group has begun the process to acquire the media rights to both The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, effectively making the publisher the owner of both properties once the deal goes through. The print publication rights will remain with the Tolkien estate, but as for movies, TV shows, games, and any other form of media you can think of, Embracer is now the one greenlighting potential projects. It's wasted no time thinking about potential ideas as well, as the publisher has already suggested standalone movies for Gandalf and Aragorn.
Embracer also had another intriguing piece of info to reveal, that being that it has moved one of its AAA titles from one studio to another in order to "ensure the quality bar is where we need it to be." While Embracer doesn't mention the title, the details of the situation suggest that it's very likely to be the Knights of the Old Republic remake being developed by Embracer-owned Aspyr Media. A report from last month suggested that Embracer wasn't happy with the game's progress and that it had been put on hold indefinitely as a result.
