Nightdive Studios’ remake of System Shock has gone gold, according to publisher Plaion. The title is “code complete” and will release on May 30th at 8 AM PDT on PC via Steam, GOG and the Epic Games Store.
Based on the 1994 immersive sim by LookingGlass Technologies, System Shock takes place on Citadel Station, run by a powerful AI named SHODAN. Eventually, SHODAN turns evil and begins to slaughter everyone on the station before turning them into mutants. As a hacker caught up in this mess, players can use weapons, hacking and other skills to fight back.
The remake offers fully redone visuals in HD with a new interface, areas, music and enemies. The hacking system has also seen many changes, and there’s a new dismemberment system for maximum gore. If that weren’t enough, Terri Brosius returns to voice SHODAN.
System Shock Remake will also release on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, and Xbox One in the future, with more details to come. Stay tuned for the PC release in the meantime.
