Switch’s latest system update introduces Animal Crossing icons and Platinum Point alerts
Nintendo Switch system update Ver. 14.1.0 is now live and brings with it updates to the MyNintendo Platinum Points system.
The minor update will now notify players when they have unclaimed MyNintendo Platinum Points. This can be turned off in the system menu.
Players will now be able to use their MyNintendo Platinum Points in order to redeem custom Nintendo Switch icons based on Animal Crossing and Splatton, which will be available until May 1, 2021.
Last month,Nintendo added folders to Nintendo Switch, five years after the console’s launch.
The much-requested feature, which Nintendo is calling ‘groups’, allows users to more conveniently manage their software libraries from the Switch Home Menu.
Up to 100 groups can be created with a max of 200 titles per group. The same software title can be added to multiple groups.
Nintendo’s description reads: “You can sort your favourite software titles however you want! Using themed groups can help make titles easier to find too.”

In its latest financial results, which were published in February, Nintendo said Switch had become its best-selling home console in history.
The console has shipped over 103 million units, surpassing Wii’s 101 million total, and Switch had 98 million annual playing users last year.
A senior industry analyst recently forecast Nintendo’s next console to launch in 2024, with no ‘Switch Pro’ model arriving before that date.
