Superman Gets New Gladiator Costume As He Finally Learns How to Fight

In a brand new preview of Action Comics #1040, Superman trades in his usual red and blue look and sports a gladiator costume as he learns to fight without his incredible powers. In the latest look at the upcoming DC Comics epic, Kal-El gets a sword and shield as he faces off against Mongul and a series of monsters as the Warworld Saga rages on.
Superman has left Earth and arrived on Warworld to help free slaves on the Mongul-ruled planet. Superman formed a new team (The Authority) featuring Apollo, Steel, Midnighter, Manchester Black, Guardian, Lightray, Omac, and Enchantress) to take on the alien villain. However, Lightray is killed upon arriving, and Superman and the team are taken prisoner on the planet. Kal-El's powers are severely weakened as the planet sits on Red Sun generators, leading him to fight in a gladiator tournament to earn freedom and help save the lives of those under Mongul's reign. In a new preview for the next chapter in the Warworld Saga, Superman sports a new costume and fights without his powers.

In a new textless preview of Action Comics #1040 by Phillip Kennedy Johnson, Riccardo Federici, Lee Loughridge, and Dave Sharpe, Superman sports a new gladiator costume as he fights inside Warworld's arena. However, with his powers dampened due to the Red Sun generators, the Man of Steel relies on fighting without his usual abilities. So instead, Superman sports a sword and shield with his new costume. His new look features his cape, a crest over his bare chest, and a belt and shorts with a sash. Check out the preview below.
