Konami has confirmed the PS4 remasters of the first two Suikoden games will no longer release this year as the studio needs more time to «ensure the quality performance and gameplay experience our users deserve». A new date has not been announced, but it's now expected in 2024 alongside its spiritual successor Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes.
The news was shared on Twitter, where the Suikoden team said it's «renewing our efforts to bring Suikoden I & II HD Remaster to release as soon as possible» and more information will be shared «as it becomes available».
Suikoden I & II HD Remaster: Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars brings back the two classic PS1 RPGs and gives them a facelift with enhanced graphics and new audio effects. You'll also be able to utilise autosaves, fast-forward functionality in combat, and a conversation log. Are you happy to wait a little longer for these classic titles to return? Play the waiting game in the comments below.
Liam grew up with a PlayStation controller in his hands and a love for Metal Gear Solid. Nowadays, he can be found playing the latest and greatest PS5 games as well as supporting Derby County. That last detail is his downfall.
After planning a release in 320p
Too bad but I'm glad to have some news. Better to play the waiting game than the guessing game.
I was half expecting this. I'll have more time to play it next year anyway. Hopefully it'll mean time to add more quality of life improvements etc.
It's unfortunate, but hope whatever team they have on this is allowed to do the quality job their PR suggests it is versus a Grove Street Games style mobile rush job!
