Almost a week ahead of the release of Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin, a large demo for the game has supposedly leaked through PSN. The upcoming action RPG game looks to serve as a sort of remake of the story told in the first Final Fantasy game that launched on the NES in 1987. The new game looks to celebrate the Final Fantasy series's 35th anniversary. Stranger of Paradise is being developed by Team Ninja and it seems to be a much more fast-paced game than Final Fantasy fans might be used to.
Last summer, Final Fantasy fans were surprised by the new fast-paced action game Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin announcement. A limited-timed demo gave fans a small taste of what to expect from the title that promised to be a significant departure for a series once known as the king of turn-based combat. Recent FF titles like Final Fantasy 15 and Final Fantasy 7: Remake Part 1 have continued to move the franchise away from slower-paced, strategic battles to a hybrid of fast-paced action with RPG elements. Players lucky enough to try the demo found the new Stranger of Paradise title more resembled a Souls-like game. Features like punishing enemies, sparse checkpoints, and enemies respawning after players rest to refill their health are often found in FromSoftware titles like Dark Souls and Bloodborne. Fans will be able to see if the game manages to set itself apart from similar titles when it launches on March 18th. Still, some eager fans might be able to experience it faster than expected.
