One of the developers behind Starfield and Skyrim, Nate Purkeypile, is making his own indie game, called The Axis Unseen, and it looks bigger and more metal than any of Bethesda's IPs. The game is an ambitious solo project made in Unreal Engine 5, but given his track record, Purkeypile seems plenty up to the task. Although a release date is not yet given, hopefully, it won't be too long before players can explore this new world.
In The Axis Unseen, players will hunt monsters from folklore who are attempting to invade the world of humans. It's an open-world hunting game where the main character will use a bow and arrow to bring down their quarry, and they'll also apparently be able to use different types of arrows as well as powers from the monsters they hunt. In a Nate Purkeypile interview about The Axis Unseen with Screen Rant, he talks about the concept of the axis mundi — an alternate world connecting the real one — where these monsters originate, as well as inspirations for the game such as his love of metal music and his home state of Oregon.
