Spotify decided to extend the free trial period for Spotify Premium to three months in 135 markets around the world this week.
The Individual Premium plan(Opens in a new window) usually costs $9.99 per month and offers access to ad-free streaming music, unlimited skips, the ability to play any song, and the option to download music. Spotify says(Opens in a new window) it's making this offer as a "pick-me-up to get you through the autumn and cooler days ahead."
The extended free trial is open to first-time or eligible Free plan users and will run until Sept. 11. Additionally, if an Individual Premium plan was canceled before July 15, that former subscriber is being offered three months of access for $9.99 as a "welcome back," and saving them just under $20 in the process. In both cases, once the offer ends, the subscription will auto-renew for $9.99 per month unless you cancel before then.
With most music streaming service all costing about the same, this three month free trial is sure to be popular. Spotify also timed it to coincide with the end of summer and back-to-school period, which should act as an extra temptation for students to sign up.
