Marvel's Spider-Man still isn't done writing its page in gaming history, even as Insomniac keeps teasing villains for the sequel. Namely, the Remastered edition of the game just broke a UK sales record by becoming Sony's biggest PC launch in the country, surpassing God of War by a significant margin.
Originally released as a PS4 exclusive four years ago, Marvel's Spider-Man was remastered for the PS5 in late 2020. This revised version of the open-world hit finally made its way to Windows earlier this month, on August 12th, as part of Sony's ongoing PC push.

The latest GSD charts for the UK estimate that Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered outsold God of War by 26% in their respective opening weeks, making it Sony's fastest-selling PC release in the country. Looking at the entire British market, Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered was only the fourth-best PC launch of the year; Elden Ring still tops the overall charts, followed by Total War: Warhammer 3 and LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. In terms of lifetime sales, Horizon: Zero Dawn is still Sony's overall bestseller, with 2.3 million PC units sold as of March 31st, as per the same source.
On an international level, God of War might still be the company's biggest PC launch to date. According to public data from the world's largest PC games storefront, Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered is Sony's second-biggest Steam launch. However, that record is derived from the number of concurrent players; anyone who purchased Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered at launch without playing it isn't counted, and the same goes for day-one buyers on other platforms like Epic Games Store.
