Kathryn didn't know why the monkey emoji was offensive to Black people and claimed that her intent was not racially charged. However, Leva, along with season 7's «friend of» Venita Aspen, had to explain to Kathryn why it was offensive. During a monumental moment, Charleston removed a statue of John C. Calhoun, who was Kathryn's ancestor and a supporter of slavery. Southern Charm season 7 even captured Leva and Venita attending the emotional event.
