The Soulslike genre has never been hotter, largely thanks to the hype surrounding FromSoftware's open world epic Elden Ring, which has smashed sales records for the company. Elden Ring players who are hungry for new Soulslike experiences don't have to wait much longer, as a brand-new Soulslike game is scheduled to drop next week in the form of Thymesia. And to the surprise of many, it's even coming to the Nintendo Switch.
Thymesia is skipping PS4 and Xbox One, which makes its Switch release that much more surprising. However, there's a catch that Nintendo Switch owners should be aware of when it comes to picking up Thymesia on Nintendo's home console/handheld hybrid. Thymesia on Switch will not be a native release. Instead, Thymesia will only be playable on the Switch through Nintendo's cloud services.
Soulslike Game Thymesia Release Date Delayed
Nintendo's cloud services have been used in the past to bring games to the Switch that would otherwise not be playable on the console due to its limited power. Mileage may vary when it comes to how well the game will run as a Nintendo Switch cloud gaming title, so those who want the highest-quality Thymesia experience will likely want to stick with the PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X versions of the game. Still, it's better than nothing, as otherwise Thymesia wouldn't be playable on the Switch at all.
For those unfamiliar with the game, Thymesia appears to be a Soulslike through-and-through, with a particular focus on combat.
