Those familiar with turn-based RPGs will feel right at home with Soul Hackers 2. Players get a taste of the combat system early on, but as the game progresses, it gets more complex and requires more strategy-based thinking. While Demons are crucial in battle, making sure their Summoners are strong too goes a long way. The relationships between the main protagonist, Ringo, and the party members become immediately beneficial as they introduce players to key characters and places that offer upgrade opportunities.
Outside of the dungeons, players can explore the city. As they meet new people, more places are unlocked. The city in Soul Hackers 2 is home to many spots like shops, bars, and clubs that Demon Summoners frequent. In addition, players can purchase items that help them in the dungeons and during battle. One of these places is Zafiro. Zafiro is a clothing store owned by a character named Mannequin, and here players can purchase accessories for their party members.

Accessories are essentially armor and outerwear. They aren't visible, which is unfortunate if players like to customize their characters, but they act as Defense boosters when equipped. The more expensive ones will also increase other stats. Base Stats include the following:
Strength (STR) — Strength influences the damage output from basic attacks and attack Skills.
Intelligence (INT) — Those with high intelligence are more likely to land status aliments and have better evasive maneuvers.
Vitality (VIT) — Vitality refers to a Demons or Demon Summoners' base defense.
Agility (AGI) — Agility influences speed. Speed affects turn order, accuracy, and evasiveness.
Luck (LUK) — Higher Luck makes Critical hits
