Sony‘sinvestment in FromSoftware could lead to FromSoftware properties being used in PlayStation Productions projects.

While discussing the company’s purchase of a minority stake in the Elden Ring developer, PlayStation Studios head Hermen Hulst told Reuters: “You should think of collaborations on the game development side first and foremost, but it’s also not unthinkable with our PlayStation Productions efforts that we explore opportunities.”

PlayStation Productions is one of the latest arms of Sony’s latest arm of its PlayStation empire, focusing on adapting PlayStation franchises for film and television.

While Sony is yet to use an IP that isn’t its own in a PlayStation Productions presentation, its now-established relationship with FromSoftware may lead to a non-gaming-based product coming from the franchise.

Hulst’s comments imply that an Elden Ring or Bloodborne film or TV series could be considered, due to Sony’s investment in the group.

Sony recently acquired 14.09% of FromSoftware from its parent company Kadokawa Corporation.

The first television series from PlayStation Productions, The Last of Us, will debut next year on HBO. Joel and Ellie will be played The Mandalorian star Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, who is best known for her work in Game of Thrones.

Several other PlayStation properties are currently being adapted. The Umbrella Academy showrunner Steve Blackman is currently developing a show based on the Hozion franchise.

Sony also announced in May that it’s working on a TV adaption of God of War with Amazon, and a Gran Turismo film helmed by District 9 director Neill Blomkamp.
