Titles from PlayStation's first-party studios will launch on PC at least a year after their initial console debut.
That's according to the head of PlayStation Worldwide Studios, Hermen Hulst, who told Julien Chieze – as spotted by VGC – that it'll be 12 months or more before first-party releases make their way to PC. The exec does say that titles might make the transition sooner in the case of live-service games, though this is only a possibility right now.
“I think going forward we’ll see at least a year between releases on PlayStation and on the PC platform, possibly with the exception of live service games,” said Hulst.
“Live service games are a little bit different in nature because you want to have a strong community, strong engagement right away, right when you go live, so we might in the case of our live service offerings go day and date with PC and the PlayStation platform.”
PlayStation has started to expand its games business outside of only console with the release of Horizon Zero Dawn on PC back in 2020. The firm has since released God of War, Spider-Man Remastered and Days Gone. Sony reckons it'll make about $300 million in the year ending March 2023, a 275 per cent increase year-on-year.
