Sonic the Hedgehog 2006 (better known as Sonic '06), is typically seen as the lowest point in the series, but that doesn't mean it didn't do anything right. Over the years, its levels have been more fondly remembered than its story, so it's a shame most of them are stuck to languish in Sonic '06 evermore.
Well, not all of them. An incredibly dedicated Fortnite fan has gone to the effort of faithfully recreating the level Crisis City in the battle royale's creative mode. The level is set to launch in just a few days and looks like it's straight from a Sonic game, playable with whatever Fortnite skin you want.

This unique Crisis City port comes to us courtesy of Twitter user and Fortnite game dev @SmmOan. You can check the results out for yourself below, and see just how perfectly the level has been recreated in Fortnite's new and improved creative mode.
Oan has indicated that the level will go live for the public next week, so it's almost ready for Fortnite players to try out. Oan has also shared that it isn't working in multiplayer right now though, so it'll likely be for solo play. On top of all of that, the level will feature different music, as Epic Games won't allow the original track to be used without Sega's expressed permission.
I'm not a Fortnite creative wizard, so I have no idea how the dev managed to get everything from the aesthetics to the grinding looking just as it does in Sonic '06. It's truly a wonder to behold. We'll just have to see if it feels the same to play (or perhaps even better, considering Sonic '06's less-than-popular gameplay).
