Mark Zuckerberg won't be in a good mood today after he finds out someone left a Project Cambria VR headset, otherwise known as the Meta Quest Pro, in a hotel room.
As UploadVR reports(Opens in a new window), the forgotten headset was discovered by a hotel worker named Ramiro Cardenas who proceeded to post images of the packaging in the Oculus Quest 2 Facebook group(Opens in a new window). The packaging includes a sticker clearly stating "NOT FOR RESALE - ENGINEERING SAMPLE" and carries the Meta Quest Pro branding.
Cardenas didn't stop at just taking photos, though. He went a step further and recorded an unboxing video(Opens in a new window), which confirmed the headset uses five external cameras. The video also reveals the controllers use onboard cameras instead of tracking rings like those found on the Oculus Quest 2 controllers.
A later post by Zectariuz Gaming(Opens in a new window) confirmed the Quest Pro does include a charging dock and that the VR headset has now been retrieved by the owner.
It's unlikely Meta will allow the images and unboxing video to remain available on Facebook for very long. I also suspect the person who left the headset in the hotel room may now be looking for a new job, or at the very least will be facing a serious reprimand at work today. Cardenas may also be looking for a new job if the hotel discovers he decided to open and record a guest's property.
