Overwatch 2 has been in development for a while now. While the actual announcement of the sequel was back at Blizzcon in 2019, for some eager fans, it likely feels as though the game has been in development for much longer. Fortunately, the wait to see more details about the game is almost over, as the first multiplayer beta is less than a week away.
Starting on April 26, a select group of gamers will be able to play the multiplayer for Overwatch 2. However, it is not all good news from the developer. While the wait is almost over for some eager fans, it appears that they will have to continue waiting in order to see some characters in their Overwatch 2 redesigns.

Recently, a developer at Blizzard revealed that at least several heroes would not be receiving their new hero redesigns in time for the beta. According to Andy Belford, Community Manager for Overwatch, two notable heroes, Doomfist and Orisa, would not be donning their new looks for the game’s test run. “Just to manage expectations here, the new look for both Orisa and Doomfist are not quite ready to be shown in a gameplay reveal trailer like we normally do,” Belford commented.
Interestingly, this news comes after Blizzard announced that Orisa and Doomfist are getting major reworks in Overwatch 2. Fortunately, it appears that players will still be able to see these alterations to the characters in action. According to the developer, even though these heroes will not have their new redesigns, they will feature their new kits. With this in mind, players should still be able to get a good idea of the gameplay for the upcoming sequel.
