Snap on Thursday announced a new feature called 'Director Mode' that it says will enable creators to produce more polished content on Snapchat, especially for the app's TikTok-like short-form video feature, Spotlight. Director's Mode is believed to be the latest attempt by Snapchat to take on TikTok at its own game, and it's not surprising, giving the soaring popularity of TikTok among teens and young users.
Having started out as an ephemeral messaging app several years ago, Snapchat developed into one of the leading social media apps alongside the likes of Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and so on. It has also been a leader in rolling out innovative new features, such as Stories, AR selfie filters, Nametag, the Discover feed, and more. Many of which have been copied by other services including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

As part of its Fourth Annual Snap Partner Summit (SPS) on Thursday, Snap announced a slew of features for Snapchat, including the new Director Mode. In a blog post detailing the feature, Snap said that it will offer an extensive set of new creator-friendly editing tools and camera lenses that will make it easier to create more polished and engaging content on Snapchat.
Director Mode also comes with the dual-camera functionality to allow creators to use the phone's front-facing and back-facing cameras at the same time. There will also be a Green Screen mode that makes it easy for users to change the backgrounds of their videos, while a Quick Edit feature helps users easily take and edit multiple Snaps.
