In Skyrim, there are several factors to take into consideration when creating a certain build for a character, with one of these being your character's race. If you are going to be creating a Redguard for instance, you need to know what kind of build for them is best to be most effective with that race.

Though not as skilled in magic as other races, like the Bretons, Redguards do have better magical bonuses than other of the more warrior-associated races. They start out with +5 bonuses to both the Destruction and Alteration perk trees, great skills to combine with their +10 enhancement to their one-handed skill.
Having a spell like Oakflesh used on top of any heavy armor will help increase your defense and ensure you can take a good beating from some of Skyrim's harder-hitting denizens. You can use just about any armor set or one-handed skill with this build so long as it is effective at completing any of your own objectives.
Standing stones can really help with getting the most out of your build and a good one for any battlemage build is the atronach stone. This stone, which is located northeast of Darkwater Crossing and northwest of Mistwatch, will enable you to absorb 50 percent of all magic damage and give you a 50 point bonus to your Magicka. Combine this with a Redguard's Adrenaline Rush ability that lets you regenerate at 10 times the normal speed, to have a surprisingly effective build for a Redguard.
