A Skate datamine suggests that the upcoming skateboarding simulator will have loot boxes, which contradicts previous statements from developer Full Circle. The fourth installment in the extreme skateboarding franchise was formerly known as Skate 4, but the game's final title is simply Skate. The new title for Skate 4was recently revealed alongside the title's planned free-to-play model and a supposed lack of loot boxes, but this claim may actually be untrue.
The upcoming Skate was first announced back in October 2020, a decade after the 2010 release of Skate 3. Supposedly set in a fictional California-inspired city called San Amsterdam, or Fun City, the skateboarding title is expected to carry on the franchise's legacy of unique controls and open-world exploration. Skate is also rumored to be a massively multiplayer title, with hordes of gamers shredding and spinning their way across a digital metropolis together. The series' fourth entry is believed to bring back the iconic «Flickit» controls of its predecessors, which let players pull off tricks using fast analog stick movements. Early gameplay footage of Skate seems to support these leaks by showing multiple skaters traversing a large urban environment together.
