Shrek will return to console games for the first time in over a decade in a newly announced karting game.
DreamWorks All-Star Kart Racing will feature characters from a variety of DreamWorks movies, including Shrek, Trolls, Kung Fu Panda, The Boss Baby, Madagascar, How to Train Your Dragon, Puss in Boots and The Bad Guys.
The game will be published by Gamemill Entertainment and developed by Bamtang Games, both of which were responsible for the recent Nickelodeon Kart Racers series of games.
It will be released on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, PS4 and PC, but no release window has been confirmed at this stage.
According to Gamemill, the game will include 20 playable characters including Shrek, Po, Tigress, Boss Baby, Puss in Boots, Hiccup and Astrid.
It will also feature tracks set in locations from each IP, including the Kingdom of Far Far Away from Shrek, Bergen Town from Trolls, the Spirit Realm from Kung Fu Panda, Baby Corp from The Boss Baby and New York City Zoo from Madagascar.
Characters from the Trolls movies host each race, and players can collect Trolls to ride alongside them to improve their abilities.
While the game features characters from a variety of DreamWorks properties, its release will be of particular note to Shrek fans, who haven’t seen the character properly star in a console game for more than a decade.
Shrek’s last two video game appearances were in 2011, in the Puss in Boots game (released on Xbox 360, Wii and PS3), and the previous DreamWorks racing game, Activision‘s DreamWorks Super Star Kartz.
DreamWorks All-Star Kart Racing will be available in a standard edition for $39.99 / £34.99 and a Digital Deluxe Edition for $49.99 / £44.99. The Digital Deluxe Edition will include two exclusive karts
