Shonen Jump+ To Release All Manga Simultaneously In English In 2023
The overseas manga market has been booming, and Shueisha editor Yūta Momiyama, who manages Shonen Jump+ and MANGA Plus has noticed. During the Jump no Mirai 2022 online event it was announced that manga will simultaneously launch in English on the company's MANGA Plus app from 2023 onward.
Shueisha is a Japanese company known for the Jump line of magazines, including Weekly Shonen Jump, Jump SQ, V Jump, Weekly Young Jump, Grand Jump, and Ultra Jump. They also own Viz Media, which publishes and distributes manga for North American audiences, is the largest distributor of graphic novels in North America, and distributes anime and other forms of Japanese media.
Similar to simulcasting, popular with anime streaming services such as Crunchyroll and HiDive, MANGA Plus will release the translated English editions of manga chapters through their app at the same time Japan receives the original. This is because Momiyama has noticed the rise in popularity of manga outside of Japan, and sees foreign fans as an incredibly important market to consider in manga production.

All of this was announced during Jump no Mirai 2022, an online event discussing the future of Jump magazines. The focus on this particular discussion was making hit manga overseas as it is in Japan. Another goal for this addition to MANGA Plus is to make it an integral part of Weekly Shonen Jump. Momiyama even went as far to predict the overseas manga market to become more important and influential to the manga market as a whole. It is easy to see where he is coming from as MANGA Plus alone has over five million monthly active users already after launching worldwide only recently in 2019.
