While Marcus and Taryn are legally married, India, the couples' sister wife, is engaged to Marcus. Since Seeking Sister Wife debuted in 2018, the show has become famous for its portrayal of polygamy, as well as its fair share of scandals. New cast member Marcus, who reportedly lives with Taryn and India in Florida, isn't the first Seeking Sister Wife star whose personal life has come under fire. Ashley and Dimitri Snowden, who appeared on the first three seasons, and became one of the most recognizable Seeking Sister Wife families, were heavily scrutinized after Dimitri married Christeline Petersen during season 3. Christeline divorced Dimitri after just a few months of marriage, and was later granted restraining orders against Dimitri and Ashley, due to allegations of domestic and verbal abuse. While Ashley and Dimitri won't make an appearance on season 4, it turns out that Marcus has enough of a controversial past to divert some attention from the former TLC stars.

Although Marcus, Taryn, and India are said to reside in Miami, Marcus was known as the City Councilman of Euclid, Ohio, which is located on the outskirts of Cleveland.
